There are star shaped glands which sit on top of the kidney and they are called the adrenal glands or the suprarenal glands. These particular glands are the sort which regulate the stress response in a person, and they are significantly responsible for this specific task. To be even more specific, these glands are located in the thoracic abdomen, and they are situated on either side of the stomach, one above each kidney.
