I have seen websites in Europe that use Chinese or Indian herbs that claim to help and heal this disease. My dear friend is afflicted and I am sure there is a better treatment using alternative, holistic medicine than the current western treatment of phlebotomy and a chemo-type drug. The body produces too many red blood cells, and platelets resulting in too much iron and very thickened blood in this condition. The websites for herbal cures were in Europe. |

Alphonso, I have been told that tincture tree is used in a tea to help heal the immune system. Also there is AHCC that is said to be proven to help in curing cancer. We started this treatment. Also I read that kiwi fruit, purple grape juice, and dark chocolate can help to avoid the clotting. Whatever you do, make sure that the blood drawing is kept up with and you have a doctor that keeps an eye on the numbers. A doctor that can keep up with the blood drawing and keep checking the numbers is hard to find. Most hematologist dont know what to do to help with Polycythemia Vera patients, since it is so rare. Hope this helps. |

Once you have already identified what's wrong in your body, then you can look for the best option to cure your sickness. Oftentimes, Chinese or natural herbal medicines really work if used correctly but you'll have to do lots of research to know if you're taking the right medicines. |

But of course, it is still important for you to consult the doctor to know exactly the cause of sickness. There's a near Chinese drugstore in my town and if I need some medicine right away I can use it as alternative medicine. |
| I am so very sorry for your friend who is suffering from this disease. It would seem difficult to me to find a medicine which will treat this disease without causing leukemia as it seems natural that in attempting to restore the balance of red blood cells that the marrow produces it could be very easy to overstimulate the production of other cells thus causing leukemia in the end. |
